Onion Theft At Salepur Shocks Denizens, FIR Lodged

Cuttack: With prices of onions surging across the State, strange news of theft of about 10 kilograms of onions at Raisunguda area of Salepur in Cuttack district. The theft was also reported at a local police station.

As per police reports, on December 4 a total of eight shops of Raisunguda market were looted. Apart from 10 kilograms of onion, cash, several other items were stolen. The shop owners had jointly lodged a complaint regarding the theft the next day.

The price of onion was at Rs 120-140 per kilogram on Saturday and has become a major cause of worry for the State and the Central government. The theft may be reflects the society where the hike in prices is forcing people to take drastic steps as the prices may have removed onions from our kitchen but not from dishes.
