Bhubaneswar: Onion prices will normalize within 2-4 days, revealed General Secretary of Federation of All Odisha Traders’ Association (FAOTA), Sudhakar Panda.

Panda made the statement while responding to queries by newsmen on why the price of the edible bulb after hitting a low retail price of Rs 70-80 a kilo for a day again witnessed a spurt in price and is now selling at Rs 100-120 a kilo.

The FAOTA General Secretary said that the sudden spurt in price of onions in the State was due to rains in the onion producing States and disruption of transport services due to protests at various places against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"Prices of onions will normalize and is likely to come down to Rs 80 a kilo in the retail market once onion stocks reach mandis and transport services are normalized in a day or two," Panda told reporters at the Lok Seva Bhawan here.
