One More School Student From Odisha To Witness Chandrayaan-2 Landing With Modi

Bhubaneswar: One more school student from Odisha, Sharanya Nanda studying in class IX of D.A.V. Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar, has been selected by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to witness the landing of Chandrayan-II on Moon along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 7.

Sharanya has been invited by ISRO, Bangalore to participate in the witnessing of landing of Chandrayan-II. She will be one of the lucky few students of the country to witness the event inside the ISTRAC control room at Bangalore sitting with the Prime Minister who will grace the occasion to encourage the space scientists.

She was selected on the basis of "Online Space Quiz" conducted by MyGov.in and ISRO in August 2019. Two top scoring students (studying in class 8 to 10) were shortlisted from each State and Union Territory of the country. The students were to answer 20 questions related to space science and mission in 10 minutes.

She is the second daughter of Samir Kumar Nanda and Sulabha Nanda. Samir is presently working as AGM, Finance at NTPC Talcher Kaniha.

To her credit Sharanya had also got a letter of appreciation in 2017 from PM Modi in response to a letter by her to the Prime Minister where she had written a poem on Swachh Bharat Mission.

It is worthwhile to mention that Chinmaya Choudhary, a Class 8 student of DAV Public School, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) in Jharsuguda has also been selected to witness the landing of Chandrayan-II on Moon.
