Kalahandi: Bhawanipatna Sadar Police on Wednesday arrested a Maoist militia from Nehela Reserve Forest in Kalahandi and seized various arms and ammunition from his possession.

Kalahandi SP Battula Gangadhar informed that acting on a reliable input, police had conducted a raid and apprehended the accused identified as Mangua Majhi of Barakhoj village.

Police seized a country-made gun, 20 gelatin sticks, five electric detonator, 95 metres electric wire and 45 Maoist posters.

During interrogation Majhi confessed of supplying explosives and various essential commodities to the Naxals. After his arrest police have launched a combing operation in the area.

The SP also cautioned the Maoists not to employ innocent tribals and destroy their lives. While urging the public not to involve in such illegal activities as it will land them in danger, Gangadhar also asked them to inform police if they are being pressurized by Maoists.
