Dhenkanal: A young woman, resident of Karanda village under Rasol PS alleged that the officer-in-charge of the PS misbehaved with her and attempted to rape her in her house on 10th of November. He had stepped in the house when the woman was all alone at home and had started molesting her.

The mother of the victim had gone to the market at that time. When she came back, she saw a crowd at her house. The victim did not go to the police station to complain as he was the officer-in-charge there. She decided to visit the SP of Dhenkanal district.

“He started molesting me and pushed me back. He used foul language while conversing with me. As he came closer and tried to rape me, one of my neighbours got in after which he fled the spot. I went to the SP’s office but he was not present there. So I posted my complaint to the SP, Human Rights, Women Commission, and the Home Department through registered post. But nothing came out. So I knocked the doors of court for justice,” informed the victim.

“The accused OIC named Santosh Yadav mhad attempted to rape my client. The court recorded her statement on 6th December, and an enquiry will be done under 202 Crpc,” informed PN Tripathy, advocate of victim.

When asked over the case, Dhenkanal SP Basant Panigrahi said, “We had received the complaint by post and had started our investigation. A senior officer, additional SP and DSP have been entrusted with this case. The witnesses at the site have also been identified and enquiry is going on taking into aspect every angle as an OIC is being accused of this heinous crime. If he is found guilty, then he will be definitely punished.”

There has been outrage among the villagers regarding the act and they want justice for the 29-yr-old SC woman.
