Odisha: Youth Goes Missing In Puri Sea, 5-Yr-Old Boy & Grandmother Meet Watery Grave In Deogarh

Puri: A Delhi youth went missing while taking bath in Puri Sea here today afternoon. The youth has been identified as Abhishek Pandey, who was the Zonal advisor for a crime newspaper.


Abhishek and two of his engineering friends were taking a bath in the Bay of Bengal in front of Swargadwar crematorium at Chaitanya Chhak. His friends warned him not to go further ahead and came back to the beach while Abhishek continued bathing. After few minutes, Abhishek went missing and was nowhere to be found.

Life guards of Fire Services personnel were not able to rescue him despite concentrated efforts. His friends have filed a missing complaint at Sea Beach police station.

In a separate incident, a 5-year-old boy and his grandmother drowned to death while taking bath in a pond at Malichua village under Tileiguni block in Deogarh today. The deceased have been identified as Devi Singh (55) and her grandson Lalit Singh.

According to reports, the boy slipped into deep water and drowned. Meanwhile, his grandmother met watery grave while trying to save him.
