Bhubaneswar: In a brazen and daring robbery case, a young girl was caught on camera allegedly shoplifting gold rings worth Rs 60,000 from a jewelry shop in Rajmahal square a few days back. The CCTV footage of the case has surfaced on Monday and has been doing the rounds in media.

Reportedly, the incident took place at Subhalaxmi Jewellers when the twenty-something looking girl walked in as a customer and asked the owner to show gold rings weighing between 8 and 12 grams. She was dressed in a pink top, black pant and had a monkey cap on with spectacles.

When the owner left the shop to attend to some work, the cunning girl got to work and stole two rings. Sources also said that the girl went into another store in the area to sell the stolen ornaments. She left immediately after that shop’s owner declined her offer.

Based on the shop owner’s retelling of the account and the CCTV footage, a case has been registered at Capital police station here and Commissionerate Police has swung into action.
