Keonjhar: Medical negligence reached new heights after a female patient’s right leg was allegedly operated on instead of the left in Anandpur Sub-divisional hospital here. The wrong operation has added to the woman’s woes as she is not able to walk at all now.

The patient Mitarani Jena of Khadbil village had been suffering from intense left feet pain and her husband had taken her to the hospital a few days back for a check-up. After inspecting the patient’s condition, the doctor said that Mitarani had an infected wound on her left leg that needed operation.

However, the husband and wife were met with a rude shock. After operation, Mitarani realized that the hospital staff had operated on her right leg instead of her left. In addition to that, doctors have also operated on her left leg after realizing their mistake, thus leaving both her legs in a sensitive condition. Currently, the woman is confined to chair only as she is not able to walk.

Tension gripped the hospital premises after the incident as locals opposed and criticised the careless act of the doctor. The hospital authorities have refused to comment on the matter, stated reports.
