Bhubaneswar: The economic slump seems to have little effect on shoppers in Bhubaneswar, during the Puja season. From 11 in the morning till 10 pm Popular shopping arenas are crowded with anxious visitors willing to check out new arrivals and discounts.
To complement the interests of their customers, the shopkeepers are leaving no stones unturned to attract the attention of the public. There are attractive offers, products on sale, and range of discounts in Bhubaneswar markets.
"Store manager of a popular FMCG store said there has been a marked increase in the number of buyers as compared to last month. “Sales have picked up. Last month there were a few people who actually bought electronics goods but last weekend has been quite promising."
Shoppers are too excited to go on a shopping spree. We would rather cut expenses elsewhere than give up on Puja shopping. I will be buying at least three sarees for Saptami, Ashtami and Navami. Same applies for the family," a Saheed Nagar-based homemaker said.
There is no gap in the demand and supply during the Puja season and outlets are stocked with products. The season is going to last till the Diwali which will be a win-win situation for both sellers and the consumers, a financial expert stated.
