Kalahandi: Things went awry for villagers of Pandi under Kalampur block last night after water from Indiravati South main canal entered the human habitation following a breach in the canal.

The incident occurred at 2 am in the night as villagers started rushing out of their homes. According to reports, a 20-feet-breach in the canal caused water to gush into the village. Several important documents and objects were carried away in the water.

While a team of engineers reached the spot and are investigating the matter, villagers have alleged that the dam work is going on very slowly and thus several such problems are cropping up.
