Odisha: Wanted Criminals Injured, Nabbed After Police Encounter In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Two dreaded criminals, Arun Mallick and Vivekananda Nayak, were injured and nabbed after police encounter in Bhubaneswar during wee hours of Saturday. The duo was wanted in several cases of loot and robbery.

As per reports, Commissionerate Police's special squad and Saheed Nagar police were patrolling near Ranga Bazaar Sai Mandir area when they received a tip-off regarding a loot attempt. They immediately rushed to Tankapani road where the criminal were waiting inside a white car.

In a bid to flee, the anti-social elements fired at the men in uniform. They also tossed chilli powder at the police. In retaliation, the cops exercised right to private defence and opened fire.

On sustaining bullet injuries, the duo was rushed to Capital Hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment. As per sources, the two were involved in several cases of snatching, loot and robbery.

It is notable to mention here that Commissionerate Police had formed a special squad and had intensified night patrolling after four cases of armed robbery had rocked Bhubaneswar of July 30.
