Odisha: Vigilance Raids Govt Engineer With Assets Over Rs 1 Cr

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday raided an Engineer of the Irrigation Department on charges of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The government official in question is Laxmidhar Biswal, Assistant Executive Engineer with the Nimapara Irrigation Division, Puri.

The anti-corruption agency officials conducted searches at his house and office premises. At the same time, another team also conducted raids at Biswal’s ancestral properties in Madhuban, Kumutibagicha, Satyabadi, Balanga, and Nimapada. However, the actual asset of Biswal is yet to be ascertained.

According to the agency, Biswal owns movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 1 crore. This includes gold jewellery, expensive cars, bank deposits and residential building. The Vigilance officials have registered a graft case and continuing firther probe.
