Rourkela: After conducting simultaneous raids on the houses of Lathikata BDO and two engineers of the block in tribal-dominated Sundargarh district on charges of financial irregularities, Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday evening arrested the accused trio and forwarded them to court on Saturday.
Vigilance Directorate sources informed that the arrested three block officials are Lathikata BDO Purna Chandra Bhoi, assistant executive engineer Raj Kishore Sahu and junior engineer Buddheswar Sahu.
On Friday, their houses located in Chhend Colony in the steel city here were raided by the Vigilance sleuths. Also the houses of their relatives were simultaneously raided on the very day.
After compliants of financial irregularities were received, the three State Government officials were under the Odisha Vigilance scanner.
Vigilance sources informed that the raids were conducted at 7 places at a time, including the houses of their relatives since Friday morning and the raids continued till evening.
Vigilance is probing into the financial irregularities to a tune of approximately Rs 43 lakhs in the construction of rural roads under Lathikata block jurisdiction.
It has also been alleged that the work order was accorded in 2017 in gross violation as no open tender was invited as per the existing norms.
As per complaint received by the Vigilance, NTPC & SAIL Joint Venture (NSPCL) had sanctioned an amount of Rs 1.32 crores from the CSR Fund for construction of rural roads in Lathikata block. Instead of calling an open tender, the BDO and two engineers allegedly executed the road construction work of inferior quality and allegedly pocketed an amount of approximately Rs 43 lakhs.
