Odisha: Undertrial Prisoner Who Escaped From Jail Caught From Forest In Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Five days after escaping prison, undertrial prisoner Ajit Dakua was caught from a forest near MV-41 village this morning.

Reportedly, the jail authorities arrested the accused from the forest. The team that caught hold of Ajit comprises of Kasinath Sarkar, Ratan Mandal, Prasanta Mahakud, Ballista Bag, Saroj Behera and Rabindra Kumar Choudhury.

On March 5, Ajit broke out of Malkangiri sub-jail by allegedly using a drain, which was under maintenance, as an escape way. The matter came to the fore when the jail authorities found him missing during routine checking at night. Following his escape, an FIR was lodged by the jail superintendent and a manhunt was launched to locate him.

Ajit had been arrested by Orkel Police on January 19 and court forwarded on charges of trafficking cannabis.
