Cuttack: The Commissionerate of Police have started a investigation into popular TV serial actress Laxmipriya Behera aka Nikita’s death after registering a case of unnatural death at Chauliaganj police station here.

On Firday night, Nikita reportedly fell down from the terrace of her paternal house in Mahanadi Vihar, where she was staying from the past several days.

She was rushed to a private nursing home in CDA where she succumbed a day later. While the exact cause of her death will be clear after post-mortem, prima facie evidence suggests that she died because of traumatic head injuries, sources said.

Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said, “We have registered a case of unnatural death and awaiting the post mortem reports. If there is anything suspicious in the post mortem reports the probe will be taken up thoroughly.”

Meanwhile, Nikita’s family, her husband and in-laws are tight-lipped on the mishap which struck barely three days into the New Year. The young actress was married two years back and is survived by a six-month-old son.
