Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate of Police have intensified patrolling and picketing across the State Capital in view of a series of loot incidents in the past few days.

Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said, while this is a general practice during the dead hours, from the past two days, the police-checking at sensitive locations has been amplified.

"We have laid special focus on the arterial roads, city boundaries, entry and exit points and crossings, where the police presence has been increased," Mohanty said.

The Police Commissioner added, senior officers have been designated to man their jurisdictions. These officers and men are equipped finger-print detectors and breath-analysers to identify anti-socials and drunken motorists.

"As per our investigation, the culprits in the loot incidents which took place under Mancheswar police limits recently, are gangs from outside the city. The Special Squad is on its job and these offenders will be nabbed soon," Mohanty added.
