Odisha: Transport Dept Initiates Road Safety Drive

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to create awareness on road safety and implementation of ammended Motor Vehicle Act, Transport Secretary G Srinivas has issued specific directions to Collectors of all districts in Odisha.

In a letter dated October 11, Srinivas advised to strengthen facilitation centres, open extra counters, conduct camps in public institutions to enable motorists to update their compliance status.

For creation of road safety awareness and to make RTOs middelmen free, the Collectors have been asked to create awareness among general public.

For this purpose, it has been decided to place Rs 10 lakh, Rs 7.50 lakh and Rs 5 lakh in favour of A, B and C category RTOs out of Odisha Road Safety Society fund for expenses.

The district collectors have been directed to dsiplay flow charts for various online applications like LL, DL, Fitness Tests and others.

To ensure removal of middlemen, helpline numbers must be displayed on offices and adequate signages erected for public convenience.
