Bhubaneswar: While the Central Team has already made field visits of Puri, Khurda and Cuttack districts adversely affected by the recent Cyclone FANI and the restoration work, especially in the worst-hit Puri district, is underway, Odisha is mulling to submit the final memorandum on the extent of damage caused by the disaster.

Replying to a media query at the State Secretariat today, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi said, “No report received yet from the affected districts. Hope the damage assessment will be made till May 22. We have decided to submit the final memorandum to the Government of India by the end of this month.”

Detailing on the damage assessment, he explained, “The damage assessment will be basically on the agriculture, crop damage, livestock casualty, house building damage, domestic assets, etc.”

On being further queried about the fate of the people whose houses have been completely damaged in the devastating cyclone, the SRC replied, “The concerned District Collectors have been directed that the people, who have been deprived of dwelling houses due to full damage caused by the cyclone, they should be sheltered in the nearby public buildings like school, college, etc and if required in the cyclone shelter so that they are safe and sound.”
