Odisha To Set Keynote Address Of UNESCAP Disaster Resilience Week At Bangkok

Bhubaneswar: After having earned international applause for setting benchmark in disaster management during the previous years, now Odisha will have another foot print in disaster management at Global level.

Managing Director of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), Bishnupada Sethi, has been invited to deliver the keynote address of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Disaster Resilience Week scheduled to be held at Bangkok from August 26 to 28, 2019.

Sethi will deliver the key note address at Bangkok on August 26 (Monday), where he will light upon how Governments in Asia and Pacific region can further cooperate in improving the disaster management systems.

"The success that the State has achieved is not the work of a day or month but of continuous endeavour over 20 years," said Sethi while replying to a media query on Saturday.

"Disaster resilience can be built through 'empowerment', 'inclusion', 'shared understanding' and 'joint strategic action plan' among the nations in Asia Pacific region," he added.
