Odisha To Provide Potable Water To All Rural Areas By 2024

Bhubaneswar: As water is life and keeping in view the need for safe drinking water supply, especially in the rural areas, Odisha Government has readied its plan of action to provide it to all by 2024.  

Interacting with media persons at the State Secretariat here, Odisha Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water and Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Pratap Jena said, “The most important subject in our department is drinking water. It may be of urban areas or of rural areas. Drinking water is our top priority. We are preparing ‘yojana’ (plan and project) how we could supply safe drinking water to all.”

He announced, “We are preparing schemes to provide all with safe drinking water in the rural areas by 2024. Also efforts are on to supply so in the urban areas also.”

“Besides, another most important issue in our Urban Department is that of tackling water-logging in the ensuing monsoon. We are going to take all sorts of steps to stop water-logging,” the Minister assured.
