Odisha To Open 21 New Fast Track Courts To Deal With Sexual Offences Against Women

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Law Minister Pratap Jena today announced that the State government will soon open 45 new fast track courts on a war footing basis.

Out out of these, 21 fast track courts will exclusively deal with cases pertaining  to sexual offences against women, he added.

He said the remaining 24 fast track courts will try crimes coming under the purview of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act-2012.  

The Minister pointed out that 14 posts of Judges are lying vacant in the High Court.

He said that filling up these vacancies will help in faster delivery of justice to the litigants.
