Odisha To Prepare FANI Damage Assessment Final Report By May 22

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to accord its seal of approval for the expenditures made as per the norms of the SDRF and NDRF after discussion, this year’s first State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting was presided over by Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the State Secretariat here.

Briefing media soon after the vital meeting, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi said, “State Executive Committee is an authorized body to approve all the expenditures made under the SDRF and NDRF. Today’s was the first one of this year chaired by the Chief Secretary. Whatever activities were done post cyclone were discussed today. The funds position of Odisha under SDRF was also discussed.”

“We have decided to make the damage assessment by May 22 and accordingly memorandum will be submitted with the Central Government,” informed the SRC.

He added, “Besides, we discussed on the required funds from NDRF. The stocks of various inventories and the needs for the future were also discussed. Also approval was accorded to the funds allocated to different departments.”

“We have now sufficient funds to a tune of over Rs 1400 crore. After assessment the extra requirement of fund amount will be known. As of now there is no paucity of funds to meet the post cyclone exigencies,” the Odisha SRC noted.
