Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is taking a focused approach to develop tourism projects in 13 main destinations, said a top official of the Tourism department here today.
"Currently, we are taking a focussed approach to develop 13 main destinations,” informed Vishal Kumar Dev Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Tourism department speaking on the sidelines of a presser on Odisha Travel Bazaar 2019.
Destinations like Chilika, Konark, Puri, Similipal, Bhitarkanika, Debrigarh-Hirakud are among the 13 destinations where the government is focusing, he added.
"We are identifying land for tourism projects including hotels in the aforementioned destinations," the Tourism secretary said.
Dev said that the department was mooting the idea of introducing new products like house boats in Chilika, Bhitarkanika, river cruise in Satkosia, Debrigarh etc.
Giving further details of the new products he said:"Adventure sports, water sports are the new products we want to introduce."
"A lot of work has started in Puri on the basic amenities front," he informed while pointing out that all tourist destinations should have world class basic amenities and infrastructure.
"In Konark we are starting a new product called Konark Sun City Project like Rann Utsav in Rann of Kutch. There will be tented accommodation of about 50 tents for a period of one month.
The department of Tourism of the State government in partnership with FICCI is set to conduct the third edition of 'Odisha Travel Bazaar' on October 14-20, 2019 at Bhubaneswar.
It is culmination of the department's proactive outreach to stakeholders of the tourism and hospitality sector through a series of domestic roadshows and during landmark events such as the ITB Berlin, WTM London, GITB Jaipur and many more national tourism events.
