Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department on Monday predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in most districts of Odisha over the next 48 hours.
According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation lies over south Andhra Pradesh & neighbourhood.
"A cyclonic circulation lies over south Andhra Pradesh & neighbourhood and extends upto 3.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. A trough extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level runs from the above cyclonic circulation to southwest Madhya Pradesh across Vidarbha. Under the influence of above cyclonic circulation and strong monsoon current, enhanced rainfall activity very likely in some districts of Odisha," the IMD bulletin said.
According to the IMD bulletin on September 25 (Wednesday) light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of north Odisha and at many places over the districts of south Odisha.
The IMD has moreover, issued yellow warning forecasting heavy rainfall at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Gajapati on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places over the districts of north Odisha and south coastal Odisha. Moreover, it has issued yellow warning forecasting heavy rainfall at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.
"Most places in all districts are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall in the next 48 hours.Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted mainly in coastal districts and its adjoining districts. It's effect will remain for the next 48 hours," informed H R Biswas, IMD Director, Bhubaneswar.
