Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to demolish a portion of the MLA colony and replace it with multi-storey 7R quarters at an estimated expenditure of Rs 400 crores, informed State Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro here today.
“There will be 140 quarters for housing MLAs with all facilities-community hall, kalyan mandap, gyms for exercise, morning walk paths etc in multi-storied building complex,” he stated.
Moreover, the lobby of the Vidhan Sabha where MLAs hold discussions will be renovated Patro said and added that a tender has been called for the same.
The Speaker said that this renovation will be done keeping in mind the most modern Vidhan Sabha of the country as the model in mind.
Patro further said that after handing over of the 140 quarters to the MLAs the remaining portion of the MLA colony will be demolished and handed over to the General Administration (GA) department.
