Bhubaneswar: The iconic Dakota aircraft used by Odisha's legendary leader and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik to rescue Indonesian leaders during the Indonesian freedom struggle will be brought to the State soon.
A high level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy at the Lokseva Bhawan here today took a decision to write to the Union Civil Aviation Ministry in this connection.
"A letter in this regard will be sent to the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to bring the aircraft to the State and thereafter steps will be taken for its safe display," informed Manoj Mishra, Secretary, Electronics & IT department speaking to newsmen here after the meeting.
The aircraft bearing registration VT – AUI is now stationed at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata.
