Odisha To Ban Single-Use Plastic In Urban Areas From Oct 2

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to ban single-use plastic (SUP) in urban areas from October 2, informed Forest and Environment Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha on Tuesday.

"Under 5T policy of the Chief Minister, the State government has decided to completely ban single-use plastic and some other plastics in all urban areas (NACs, municipalities and corporations) across the State from October 2," the Minister said.

He added that the government has sought objections and suggestions from the public on the issue within 15 days through advertisements released in 'The Samaj' and 'Times of India' on 15th last.

Arukha further informed that his department will be soon sending a proposal to the Chief Minister for a complete ban on plastics across the State.
