Odisha: Three Arrested In Connection With Bargarh BRC Tarinisen’s Murder

Bargarh: The district police on Tuesday arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Block Resource Coordinator Tarinisen Mahala which took place on October 12. The accused have been identified as Riku Sahu of Bijepur and Haribandhu Meher and Fakir Meher of Melchhamunda.

Mahala’s body was recovered from a dumping yard in Bijepur. SP Padmini Sahoo said that Riku and Haribandhu had killed BRC Taranisen Mahala with sharp weapons at his rented house at Nuapalli village under Gaisilet block and later dumped the body in a dumping yard on Bijepur-Sohela road with the help of Fakir.

A joint team of Bijepur and Gaisilet police launched a manhunt for the accused after the mutilated body of the BRC was found on Saturday. The weapons used in the crime have also been seized by the police.

Sahoo added, the accused are contractors who killed Mahala over passing of bills against construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. She said that the BRC was not assigned election duty so this murder was not linked to the upcoming bypolls.

Taranisen went missing on his way to office on October 12. The next day, his family members had lodged a missing complaint at Gaisilet police station in this connection. On October 14, when the family members found his motorcycle from Dunguripali area.
