Odisha: Suspecting To Be Cattle Thieves, Villagers Thrash Youths, Torch Vehicle In Cuttack

Cuttack: Mob justice has become the order of the day as four youths were brutally thrashed and their vehicle was torched by locals in Bidanasi area after the villagers suspected them to be cattle thieves.

The incident occurred late last night at around 2 am in the night when the youths’ movement came under the suspicion of people. Over the past few days, villagers had been complaining of cattle being stolen from that area. Suspecting the youths to be the culprits, the villagers caught hold of them and torched their vehicle. It is yet to be ascertained whether the youths were cattle thieves or not.

When the youths were trying to escape, the villagers brutally thrashed them as well. The assault was so serious that the injured youths had to be immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Till last reports came in, police was investigating further into the matter and the youths were in a critical condition unable to tell their side of the story.
