Ganjam: In a shocking incident, villagers of Dengadi under Patpur police limits in Sanakhemundi area here allegedly thrashed Telangana cops on child-theft suspicion.

Reportedly, a team of cops from Hyderabad were investigating a suspected criminal in the village. As they had been visiting the area for several days in plain clothes, villagers suspected something fishy.

Child-theft being a common occurence in the area, the locals started questioning the 'strangers' in the area and began thrashing them. They also ransacked the police van.

On intimation, Odisha police reached the spot and rescued their counterparts from the neighbouring State. The police personnel have been admitted in Adapada Medical for treatment.

Patpur cops are also interrogating the criminal, informed sources.
