Odisha: Suspected Corona Virus Case, MBBS Student Referred To SCB Medical

Phulbani: A student from Phulbani, pursuing MBBS in China, was referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, today after he developed symptoms of the Coronavirus disease.

The student, who came home in Phulbani on January 11 from China, a few days after the outbreak of the disease, has been suffering from cold, cough and chest congestion since then.

The student said that he had been suffering from cold and cough, for the last ten days and suspected that he had contracted the virus and wrote to Kandhamal Chief Medical Officer (CDMO) about it.

Kandhamal CDMO said, "He has been supplied with a mask, kept in isolation, his blood samples have been sent for examination. The case is yet to be confirmed."

The State Government has open special wards in five major hospitals in different locations for the treatment of coronavirus case. SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack has opened a special ward with 48 beds with 8 ICU beds for possible cases.

Apart from SCBMCH in Cuttack, special wards have also been opened MKCG, Berhampur, VIMSAR, Burla, Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Rourkela Government Hospital and Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital and in Paradip Port Hospital.
