Odisha: ST&SC Development Dept Comes Under Mo Sarkar

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today brought it's ST & SC Development Department under the purview of 'Mo Sarkar' initiatives.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced this at a special function at the Lokseva Bhawan here today.

"Inclusion of this department in the Mo Sarkar initiative will bring in the desired results. This initiative will be an instrument of empowerment of more than three crore traditionally underprivileged people and will bring in a rapid turn-around in our approach in delivering public services. It will ensure governance with absolute accountability to the citizens," said Patnaik speaking on the occasion.

Patnaik stated that the ST & SC Development Department is one of the most important department of the government that looks into the welfare of almost 70 percent of the State's population comprising ST, SC, OBC and minorities communities and added that mainstreaming of these large communities was essential for the holistic development of the State.

The Chief Minister underlined the onerous task of the Department in providing residential education to more than six lakh ST-SC students staying in about 6,500 hostels and said that it was no mean achievement.

He said tribal boys and girls in the State were doing well in academics too and it should be acknowledged.

Patnaik informed that Mo Sarkar has been now launched in 22 Integrated Tribal Development Agencies and 17 Micro Projects for PVTGs which will fast pace the socio-economic development process in the project areas and objectives of various schemes will be achieved faster.

"To strengthen the governance structure in the scheduled areas, necessary administrative procedures have come into effect. I believe; all officials of the department will work in the true spirit of Mo Sarkar initiative and provide their best in delivering service to the people," the Chief Minister concluded.

Minister ST & SC Development Jagannath Sarka who also spoke on the occasion said that the Department is fully prepared to take up the responsibilities of Mo Sarkar.

The initiative will bring efficiency and accelerate the process of development, he added.
