Odisha: Snana Yatra To Be Held With Minimum Servitors

21 May 2020

Bhubaneswar: The Snana Yatra ritual of Lord Jagannath and his siblings will be held with minimum number of servitors, as decided in a meeting of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) with representatives of Chhatisa Nijog on Thursday.

The Nijogs have been asked to provide a list of minimum servitors by May 25 to carry out the Snana Yatra ritual of the deities. The servitors in the list only will be allowed to enter the temple on the day of Snana Purnima, informed SJTA Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar.

It was also decided that options available to celebrate other festivals such as ‘Sital Sasthi’ ahead of Snana Yatra will be considered in accordance with the rules of 4th phase of coronavirus-induced lockdown. The Temple Management Committee will seek suggestions of religious heads in this regard.

The Chief Administrator further informed that decision regarding providing financial assistance to the servitors dependent on the temple will be decided in a meeting to be held by Puri Collector Balwant Singh soon.
