Odisha Shivers As Mercury Drops Below 10 Degree Celsius At Five Stations

Bhubaneswar: Biting cold tightened its grip over Odisha as temperature below 10 degree Celsius was recorded at five stations in the last 24 hours informed Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, HR Biswas, on Saturday.

The lowest temperature of 9.0 degree Celsius has been recorded at Sonepur and Daringbadi followed by 9.6°C at Angul and 10.0°C at Sundergarh and Phulbani.

The temperature has fallen around three to four degrees below the normal temperature in few districts of north-interior Odisha.

Biswas further informed that light rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal in the next 24 hours and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

The temperature will remain three to four degrees below the normal temperature in the districts of north-interior Odisha which includes Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.

Shallow to moderate fog will be noticed in few districts of north Odisha and Khurda, Puri, Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts of south Odisha. The temperature will rise by two to four degrees from December 24 and is likely to change further.

Misty weather will be prevailing in Bhubaneswar where the temperature recorded today was 14.6°C and will remain around 15°C for the next few days, said Biswas.
