Odisha: Seven Arrested In Junagarh Gang Rape Case

Kalahandi: Junagarh police have arrested seven persons including a minor in connection with the gang rape of a girl which took place at a jungle near Banamalipur on September 14. The accused involved in the rape have been identified as Amit Naik (30), Prakash Naik (22), Santa Naik (24) and a minor boy.

The police also arrested three persons who were responsible for circulating the video of the crime on social media. They are - Binod Naik (32), Tikamani Podh (32) and Swayambar Bag (30). They have been booked under IT Act.

According to the police, on the fateful day at around 1:45 pm the victim was abducted by the accused while she was heading towards Junagarh.

"They forcibly took her to a jungle near Banamalipur and gang raped her. After registration of the case, the accused persons were arrested and their mobile phones seized. A manhunt is on to nab the rest of the accused," SP Battula Gangadhar said at a press meet today.
