Bhubaneswar: Further re-scheduling the re-opening of schools after long summer vacation in the State, Odisha School & Mass Education Department today issued orders to re-open all the schools and resume classes from tomorrow (June 21).

Earlier on June 18, School & Mass Education Secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra had informed media that the schools were to reopen after summer vacation on June 26 instead of the previously slated June 19 due to the then prevalent heat wave condition sweeping across Odisha.

Taking into consideration the sudden change in weather condition as well as relaxation from sizzling summer following pre-monsoon rains and the imminent advance of annual monsoon, the State Government today curtailed the recent extension in summer vacation and decided to re-open all the schools from tomorrow (June 21) instead of June 26 next week.

In his media reactions, Odisha School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das said, “There has been sizzling summer and heat wave condition in western Odisha. In this side there had been humidity. As the weather condition changed, it was decided to re-open the schools from tomorrow. The education of the children is significant. Hence, the Government took decision accordingly.”

On the damaged schools due to cyclone FANI, the Minister replied, “Direction had been issued much earlier for the repair work. There will be no problem for classes. Wherever there is still any problem and repair is not possible, arrangement has been made in the nearby school. Rs 3,000 transportation facility to each has also been made by the Government in this regard."
