Bhubaneswar: Soon after the vital post of Development Commissioner (DC) of Government of Odisha got vacated yesterday due to the superannuation of senior Odisha cadre IAS officer R. Balakrishnan and the State Government immediately posted Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Department Asit Kumar Tripathy as the new DC, he assumed his office today.

Interacting with media soon after assuming office today, Additional Chief Secretary and new Development Commissioner (DC) of Odisha Asit Tripathy said, “Lots of flagship programmes of the State Government are being implemented. Odisha is one of those States where apart from the Central Government schemes, the State sector schemes are being accepted most. They are truly serving the interests of the people of our State.”

He added, “Being a Secretary I toured various districts for reviewing about 12 flagship programmes being implemented. As I have been entrusted with this responsibility now, I have got the opportunity to delve deeper into it. I will now fully review, monitor and make field inspection.”

“Previously I had been entrusted with very important position. In addition to being Joint Secretary of Government of India, I have already held an important post like Chairman of OPEDA for 7 years. Hence, I don’t find this post difficult. We have very competent officers here. I have also experience of three and half years in the Home Department. So I think, there will be no problem in holding the new assignments,” he exuded confidence.
