Bhubaneswar: Odisha's Kandhamal has secured a position among the top 10 place holders comprising of 12 districts, including joint winners, in the World Toilet Day contest organised by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation from November 9 to 19, 2018.
Besides, three other districts of Odisha namely Jharsuguda, Khordha and Mayurbhanj has also got special mention among the 30 districts that featured in the Top 42.
The competition was an opportunity to re-intesify the Swachh Bharat Jan Andolan at the grassroots. 412 districts from 25 States and Union Territories took part in the contest which was led by District Collectors/Magistrates and CEO (Zilla Parishads).
This period witnessed immense mass mobilization towards a clean India through sustained ODF status and IEC and SLWM activities. The program reached out to crores of rural citizens.
All the participant districts have received a certificate each from the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. The Ministry has also appreciated all districts across the country for participating in the contest with great enthusiasm.
