Odisha-Born JK Tripathy Appointed Tamil Nadu DGP

Bhubaneswar: Tamil Nadu Government has appointed Odisha-born Jalad Kumar Tripathy as the Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of Police Force in place of T.K. Rajendran, who retires on Sunday after completion of two years of his tenure.

The TN government also said that K. Shanmugam, Additional Chief Secretary in Finance Department has been transferred and posted as Chief Secretary. Shanmugam will replace incumbent Girija Vaidyanthan who retires on June 30.

The 1985-batch IPS officer JK Tripathy, currently the Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, was also the Chennai City Police Commissioner before. As per reports, he will hold the office till 2021, since the post of DGP is of a fixed tenure of two years.
