Bhubaneswar: The Rural Development Department of the Odisha government will come under the purview of 'Mo Sarkar' from February this year informed Additional Chief Secretary in the Rural Development Department Pradip Kumar Jena here today.
"We are already into missing link connectivity. Our major focus will be to revise the district road network plan which was done in 2003. We are working on a revised programme to connect all unconnected habitations having a population of more than 100 within the next five years," said Jena speaking to reporters at the Lok Seva Bhawan.
"Secondly, we will be focusing on inter-block, inter-district and inter-state connectivity where connecting a small patch on either side will provide connectivity," he added.
“Some of the small villages and habitations were left out in the last survey by the department. We will try to rectify that now and make a comprehensive survey with the help of Panchayati Raj Department, SC & ST Department, Water Resources Department and Works Department,” Jena stated.
Jena, who also holds additional charge as Managing Director of OSDMA said that while Odisha is a leader State in handling natural disasters we have to extensively use technology and automation to remain a leader in all times.
"We have to go for automation and a lot more technology enabled transparency in warning dissemination, damage assessment and distribution of benefits," he added.
