Puri: The Sri Jagannath Temple managing committee has approved an annual budget of Rs 78 crore for the financial year 2019-20. The apex body for temple management has earmarked Rs 28 crore for the salary of the Jagannath temple employees and Rs 1 crore for welfare of the servitors.

The annual honorarium of 'Gajapati Maharaj', who is the Chairman of Sri Jagannath Temple Administraion (SJTA) has been doubled to Rs 12 lakh per annumn. This year Rs 6 crore has been allotted for the expenses of Rath Yatra.

A decision in this regard was taken at the annual budget meeting of the temple, presided over by Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb. The committee expects to earn revenues of Rs 102 crore from different sources during 2019-20.

Around Rs 15 crore is expected to be earned from sale of endowment land this year and Rs 4 crore from the donations. The temple reserves which stands around Rs 650 crore would be increased upto Rs 700 crore during 2019-20, SJTA Chief Administrator, Pradipta Mohapatra said.
