Malkangiri: As much as Rs 10 crore out of the Rs 100 crore package announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for development works in 'Swabhiman Anchal' (earlier known as cut-off area) of Malkangiri district has been earmarked for construction of school buildings in areas which do not have such facilities.
"Out of the Rs 100 crore package announced by the Chief Minister, Rs 10 crore has been earmarked for construction of school buildings in Swabhiman Anchal wherever these don't exist," informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash briefing reporters at Janbai on his way back after visiting a school in Badapada panchayat on Thursday.
The Minister said that the purpose of his visit was to study how the education system can be further boosted in Swabhiman Anchal.
He added that his visit was part of the 5T initiatives of the Naveen Patnaik government which is in its fifth consecutive term.
"I was especially impressed and drawn to this place because of the interest shown by guardians and mothers who had met the Collector and had demanded for development of education in Swabhiman Anchal," Dash said.
The Minister during his visit to the school in Badapada panchayat shared mid-day meal with the students. He also visited schools at Badapadar, Dodaamba and Jantri panchayats.
Worth mentioning this area was earlier known as the cut-off area before the Gurupriya Setu over Chitrakonda reservoir was completed.
