Bhubaneswar: Posing to be 'Babas' (godmen), two robbers allegedly looted cash and gold ornaments from a lawyer in Niladri Vihar area under Chandrasekharpur police limits here on Sunday.

The two robbers in disguise reportedly came in a SUV car, identified themselves as babas hailing from Haridwar and entered one Samarendra Sahu's shop. After Sahu sought their blessings and gave them Rs 500 as 'dakshina' (offering), the Babas asked him to consume 'bibhuti' (white-coloured powdery substance considered holy).

As soon as he consumed it, Sahu became unconscious and on gaining senses he realised that his gold ring and Rs 34,000 cash was missing. The two Babas had also fled the spot.

He rushed to Chandrasekharpur police station and filed a complaint. The incident was captured on CCTV camera and cops have started investigation into the matter.
