Malkangiri: Commuters were left stranded on Sunday as two-feet water flowed over a bridge near Kankarkonda following incessant rain in Malkangiri district. Road communication between Malkangiri-Kalimela was severely affected and people were left marooned.

After several hours, locals had no option left and began waddling through the water. Despite the fear of slipping and being swept away, the villagers braved the strong current and crossed the bridge.

Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall is on cards for the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Balangir over the next 24 hours.
