Malkangiri: Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Sudam Marndi and Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi on Wednesday reviewed the flood  situation following incessant rain that has been lashing Malkangiri over the last several days.

During his visit to the district, the Minister was apprised about the steps taken by local administration in the affected areas. In view of the loss of life and property due to the flood, Marndi directed concerned officials to provide immediate relief to the affected people.

Briefing mediapersons, Marndi said, "Heavy rains lashed the district for four days. The district administration was alert therefore no major loss to life and property has been reported. As expected it was a good rain which will help farmers."

He further said that there can't be a permanent solution for the flood-like situation as it is a natural phenomenon. The State Government is taking necessary measures wherever required and some more proposals are under scrutiny.
