Bhubaneswar: With the lease period of 24 functional mines in Odisha to expire by March 31, 2020, the State Government has completed all the formalities for their auction, informed Steel & Mines Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik on Saturday.

The Minister said the exploration for all mining leases expiring in 2020 have been completed and steps taken to ensure seamless transition of mines from existing leaseholder to the new leaseholder to avoid any hindrance in production process.

Meanwhile 36 mining blocks are ready for auction. Few of them will be auctioned next month after their geological reports (GRs) will be scrutinized and passed by SBI Capital Markets Ltd, the transaction advisor for e-auction, said Mallik.

The Minister while attending a seminar of Mining Engineers Association Of India have asked the engineers to take steps for utilization and value addition of mines with low grade minerals in Odisha.
