Odisha: Rare Fish Caught In Kendrapada, Estimated To Be About 2 Lakh

Kendrapada: In an interesting turn of events, an exotic fish was caught by a group of fishermen at Talachua beach under Rajnagar area in Kendrapada district on late Thursday.

Estimated at Rs 2 Lakh approximately and commonly known as ‘Mayur’, the fish was spotted by the locals when they were out in the sea, said one of the fishermen.

The exotic fish costs about Rs 10000 per kg and was put on display for public before being sent for sale to Digha, West Bengal.

Notably, on June 20, a group of fishermen had caught ten huge fishes of a rare species off Dhamra coast in Bhadrak district. Each fish weighed around 30 kg and the huge catch netted Rs 6,000 per kilogram. A whole fish was sold at Rs 1.80 Lakh.
