Bhubaneswar: For the first-time Odisha government presented its annual budget in paperless form today.
Being coined as Green Budget, an initiative under 5T has reduced printing of 75 lakh pages, thus saving around 1,000 trees.
Odisha is the second State in the country to do so, the first being Himachal Pradesh which went for paperless budget presentation in 2015.
Members of the Assembly have been provided with iPads.
Instead of a suitcase and hundreds of papers used, the Budget was released in a Pen Drive.
The government has termed it as the true transformation using technology under 5-T. The Finance Minister read the speech out of an I-Pad which shows the transformation through technology in 5-T
Odisha Budget is now available on Mobile App for all citizens.
This is said to be 5-T in action providing technology-enabled citizen services.
Odisha is the first state to do Climate Code Budgeting (account of tracking public expenditure on climate change).
Odisha is now the first state to do this and will be a role model for India.
