Mayurbhanj: Tension prevailed in Baripada town of Mayurbhanj district on Friday after the death of a pregnant woman and her still born twins at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital.

Reportedly on June 11, Bangi Murmu of Ghantasila village under Khunta block of the district was admitted to the medical college where the doctor attending her informed that she was bearing twins. However, the twins were declared dead yesterday following which the mother also breathed her last.

Irate of this, her family members placed her body on the road while staging protest in front of the Collector's office alleging medical negligence.

Later, Baripada MLA Prakash Soren reached the spot and gave Rs 5000 to the bereaved family. Besides, the district administration also paid Rs 10,000 as compensation.
