**Bhubaneswar: ** Odisha unit of BJP today lodged complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) against Nuapada BJD candidate Rajendra Dholakia alleging violation of model conduct of conduct (MCC) as he was caught on camera distributing money to the people while he was on his way to file nomination yesterday (March 20).
In his media reactions, Odisha BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty said, “It has been caught on camera that Nuapada assembly constituency’s sitting MLA-cum-BJD candidate Rajendra Dholakia and his party worker Tutu Panda are going in a rally. Dholakia is seen taking out money from his pocket and distributing it to the people.”
He added, “On the other hand, Tutu Panda is threatening over mike the BJP workers. He is heard saying if any BJP worker cast evil eye on BJD worker in the rural areas during elections, the eyes will be gouged out and hands severed.”
“Issuing such statements and offering money in broad daylight are gross violation of model code of conduct. Hence, we today brought it to the notice of the Chief Electoral Officer and demanded immediate action. The BJD candidate should be debarred from taking part in the election. We’re hopeful that CEO, Odisha will take action,” the BJP leader stated.
On the contrary, Nuapada BJD candidate Rajendra Dholakia in his counter reactions to media on the BJP’s allegations said that lots of poor people of his constituency seek his support for which he often help them and there is nothing wrongdoing.
